Stay In: Plants

Staying inside is the most important thing at the moment so I wanted to start a new page on my blog which was all about things around the house. I’d like to think that this could provide you all with something else to do while being told to stay inside. Although when you can, please do get outside.

So with these new blogs, there will be discussions about finishing University (and what happens next), poetry written in different places around the house, a photoessay (type thing) of what goes on in our house in a day, the animals of the house and more.

Now that you know the reasoning behind this new page, let’s get on with the first blog in this new series: plants.

I was walking around the house, as you do in isolation (and any other time for that matter) when I realised that we had a lot of plants and flowers dotted about. Snap, snap, snap and I had a range of photos for this blog – you’ll see them in a bit.

In my opinion, plants add a certain natural quality to a home. They can make the area around them glow. In times like these, making the inside of your house glow will add comfort and make everything seem that much nicer.

A windowsill is the ideal home for a plant because there is access to sunlight. Not only is this the best place for them but also because it adds a point of interest to everyone who sees them (both inside and out). Growing and nurturing plants in your house is a great way to occupy your mind. It gives you a project and by keeping your mind and body busy, it will help to pass the time during the days, weeks and months.

Every plant has its own distinct feature which is what makes them all so wonderful. Whether it is long stems with narrow green leaves, large green leaves or triangular ones with pointy spikes, all plants should be admired. This next one will definitely bring colour to any room.

Seeing a flower full of colour, like this one, is something that can bring a smile to anyone. Whatever the colour, if it be a deep red, a bright yellow or a beautiful shade of pink, colourful plants and flowers always attract people to them.

That’s all for this one. More to follow soon.
